Partner/Head MMA Coach and Jiu Jitsu Instructor

Angel "Tito" Cruz is a 10th Planet Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt and serves as Head Coach at 10th Planet San Marcos. Originally from Puerto Rico, Angel brings a diverse martial arts background spanning multiple disciplines and years of combat sports experience.

Angel holds black belts in 10th Planet Jiu-Jitsu, Kyokushin Karate, and Kempo, and has trained extensively in Jeet Kune Do. He competed professionally in mixed martial arts with an 8-5 record under Team Hurricane Awesome, giving him firsthand understanding of what techniques work under pressure in live combat.

As Head Coach at 10th Planet San Marcos, Angel oversees all jiu-jitsu instruction across skill levels, from fundamentals for new students to advanced training for experienced grapplers. His teaching emphasizes the 10th Planet system's no-gi methodology while incorporating insights from his diverse martial arts background.

Angel handles curriculum development, student progression and belt promotions, competition team preparation, and private training sessions. Students benefit from his competition experience, technical knowledge across multiple martial arts, and commitment to developing well-rounded grapplers.

FOUNDER/ INSTRUCTOR

Curtis Hembroff is a 2nd Degree Black Belt under Eddie Bravo and serves as Head Coach at 10th Planet San Marcos. Curtis was born and raised in Alaska and competed professionally in the Alaska Fighting Championships with a 5-0 MMA record. He was the 2015 Alaska State 185lbs and Absolute Grappling Champion.

Curtis is the founder of 10PATX in Austin, TX (est. 2015) and has expanded the 10th Planet presence throughout Central Texas with locations in San Antonio (2018), Round Rock (2020), and San Marcos. His extensive experience building successful 10th Planet academies informs his approach to developing both individual students and strong team culture.

As Head Coach, Curtis teaches regular classes and leads the gym's MMA team, combining his competition experience with technical instruction in both jiu-jitsu and mixed martial arts.

Partner/Jiu Jitsu Coach

Zack Moore is a Brown Belt under Curtis Hembroff and serves as a Head Coach at 10th Planet San Marcos. Zack was born and raised in New Jersey before heading to the University of Rhode Island where he played wide receiver and returned punts.

Zack moved to Austin in January 2017, starting at 10th Planet Austin shortly thereafter, just six months into training Jiu Jitsu.

Zack has worked for 10PATX over the years with a two-year stint at Joe Rogan’s Comedy Mothership security team where he used his skill set to choose, develop, and lead the members of his team.

Zack’s book Mastering the Metal: The Story of Eddie Bravo and James Watson, released in 2023 with 10th Planet Grandmaster Eddie Bravo as a co-author, details Eddie’s journey from music into Jiu Jitsu.

Before Jiu Jitsu, Zack was one of the foremost salary cap experts in the NFL as he studied the sport with the goal of becoming an NFL agent or a General Manager. He now uses that skill set to help manage 10th Planet Austin’s MMA team.
